INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES

The Conference’s theme “Global Teak Market: Challenges and Opportunities for Emerging Markets and Developing Economies” will focus on economic, social, technical and environmental issues that have an impact on the production, marketing and trade of teakwood. The scientific programme is developed in 5 major sessions that encompasses all aspects of teak plantation management, genetics, marketing and trade, community farming and forest landscape restoration. The sessions are designed to highlight the problems faced by the teak sector and develop appropriate solutions. The 4th World Teak Conference would be a great opportunity to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, develop strategies in a post COVID scenario and develop business opportunities in the teak sector. To further the Conference Themes, thematic papers were developed on key aspects in each theme and presented here for the benefit of our teak stake holder

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Social developmental issues is a broad spectrum in the life of every community around the world. The current era we are in now characterized itself with economic inequality in the society which has resulted into, hunger,poverty, poor water supply in marginalized Communities, poor health accessibility , poor access to quality education, a rapid increase in teenage pregnancy and high prevalence rate of diseases including HIV/AIDS. As an organization our approach is to deploy social intervention programs in the areas of education, health, human right advocacy , gender equity and economic livelihood schemes to improve the living conditions of marginalized Communities. All these interventions are deployed with research being the foundation. All these interventions are employed with local and international collaboration with donor agencies, district assemblies, community authorities ,local volunteers and thematic area organizations.

COMMUNITY FORESTRY

Ghana has experienced an astronomical increase in illegal mining within most of our forest and this has depleted most of the natural forest.Subsistence farming is also one of the factors that sometimes destroys the natural forest.Most farmers in our part of the wolrd would always prefer to cut down trees to cultivate cash crops in order to make a living.These alarming activities deplete the natural forest gradually, depriving wildlife of its habitat. Wood as a form of fossil fuel is also used widely in our part of the world instead of green energy, the devastating effects of these practices destroys the forest and it does not support the global fight against climate change and global warming. Our foremost mandate as an organisation is to put protect and pragmatic measures such community sensitization on afforestation, reforestation, Agroforestry and forest plantation in order to restore and conserve the ecosystem.All these measures are employed with research being the pivot.Forest s...
